On completion of the exploration
phase, a diamond mining company based in the Democratic Republic of
Congo (DRC) invited proposals to provide security management
support during the forthcoming production phase at its remote site
mining operation in southern DRC.
Using the established ArmorGroup operation in Kinshasa and our wealth of experience in supporting a number of multi-national clients in the mining and extraction industry across Africa, ArmorGroup successfully tendered for the contract and was awarded it in early 2006.
On appointment the ArmorGroup team in
DRC, supported by its regional management team, conducted a
detailed site assessment to evaluate the exact client
requirements.
Over a two month period ArmorGroup mobilised a three man, bi-lingual, international management team to handle all aspects of security, logistics and camp management.
ArmorGroup also mobilised two ex-British Army Gurkhas to provide the interface between the ArmorGroup management team and the locally employed guardforce.
To complement the existing security solution, ArmorGroup deployed a dog handler and four patrol dogs from the ArmorGroup Uganda dog centre.
ArmorGroup continues to satisfy the client’s needs by providing an integrated security management solution. Significant value has been added to the project through ArmorGroup’s ability to provide additional logistics and camp management support.
