Background

In 1998 a large US engineering corporation, engaged in multiple oil and gas construction programmes across Eurasia, engaged ArmorGroup to provide security consultancy during the early planning stages of a construction project for a 1500 km crude oil pipeline extending through four regions of southern Russia. This was to be one of the largest single foreign investments in Russia.

ArmorGroup actions

ArmorGroup was appointed as preferred security service provider an ArmorGroup project manager was fully integrated into the client’s management team reporting directly to the Project Manager and responsible for all aspects of project security. ArmorGroup’s team has been responsible for the timely development, implementation and management of security operating procedures for these projects, including:

• Security surveys.
• Security audits accredited to ISO 9000.
• The hiring and training of international and local security managers and supervisors.
• Liaison with local and regional law enforcement and government departments.
• Evacuation and emergency contingency planning.

As well as overall security responsibility and management of these projects ArmorGroup has provided security guards at offices and remote site construction camps across the region. ArmorGroup also supports the client with the provision of:

• Close protection and VIP meet and greet services.
• Safety and security trained drivers and vehicles.
• Design and installation of integrated security systems.
• 24 hour and quick response services.
• Information services and logistics support.

Results

ArmorGroup played a critical role in success of the project. ArmorGroup’s role grew significantly from one of external consultant to a fully integrated member of the project team.

As a result of our input into this project ArmorGroup has been contracted by the client to support it on other large and engineering projects in Russia and the Middle East
