ArmorGroup was contacted by a major US
corporation supporting US Government-funded strategic threat
reduction projects in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
ArmorGroup was to be contracted to provide protective security support to projects including: nuclear submarine utilisation programmes; the elimination of nuclear delivery systems; the dismantling of ICBM SS-18s; and the reprocessing of solid and liquid radioactive waste.
ArmorGroup Eurasia was initially
contracted by the client in 1993 and immediately provided a
Security Manager, based in the client’s Moscow office, who has
provided overarching security coordination and support for the S-2,
the elimination of Solid Fuel Missiles and the elimination of
Chemical Weapons programmes.
The Security Manager also provides monthly security reports on the criminal, political and economic situation at the client’s operating listed locations: Almaty; Arkhangelsk; Belaya Tserkhov; Bolshoy Kamen; Engels; Khmelnitsky; Kiev; Krasnoyarsk; Minsk; Moscow; Perm; Uman; and Votkinsk.
One of ArmorGroup’s key responsibilities has been its liaison at all levels, regional and local, with law enforcement agencies and in particular the Russian Federal Security Service and Ministry of Internal Affairs. This has been useful for our client particularly when operating in areas formerly restricted or closed to international companies.
ArmorGroup has also provided a 24 hour response during throughout the life of the contract, lending security support to international staff. Safety and security trained drivers have been employed throughout the duration of the contract.
ArmorGroup has also provided security guardforce personnel at Almaty, Izhevsk, Khmelnitsky, Kiev, Minsk, Pervomaisk and Votkinsk.
ArmorGroup’s support to this programme has been invaluable and ArmorGroup was invited by the client to participate in the subsequent retender for these services in the FSU.
In 2001 ArmorGroup was also invited by this client to partner for another major threat reduction project funded by the same US Government client outside Eurasia. This work was awarded to ArmorGroup, which has continued to provide critical security management support for the duration of this programme.
