UK, TRAINING

Background

In May 2005 ArmorGroup International Training UK was tasked by a UK Government agency to provide a small training team for deployment to Afghanistan.

The task given to the team was to train local and international staff in Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) and defensive driver training.

ArmorGroup actions

ArmorGroup International Training deployed, at short notice, a two man training team to Kabul, Afghanistan where they conducted training for a three week period.

The aim of the training was to to train and prepare clients’ employees who were deploying to Afghanistan to recognise and avoid potential threats and equip them, if necessary, to respond to any type of incident. The objective was to allow them to be able to carry out their tasks more securely and confidently.

ArmorGroup’s courses, which combined theory with relevant practical experience, were taught by operationally experienced and professionally qualified instructors and covered the following areas:

  • Surveillance awareness.
  • Protective security operations.
  • Driver & accident awareness.
  • Defensive driver training.
  • Incident reaction skills.
  • Vehicle recovery.
  • First aid & casevac training.
  • Navigation, with and without GPS.
  • Improvised Explosive Device and weapons awareness.
  • Illegal detention, kidnap and ransom survival.

Results

Over the three weeks the ArmorGroup training team trained over 30 client employees. The client realised the benefits and importance training to their staff and now sends all their international staff to ArmorGroup’s UK training facility at Pershore to under-go Pre-Deployment and Hostile Environment Awareness Training prior to deployment to Aghanistan.

The client has also established a full time trainer at ArmorGroup’s Afghanistan facility in Kabul to train local staff in a variety of security awareness and driving skills.
