Background

CAPE, the US engineering and construction company, started operations in Iraq towards the end of 2003. The company set up a Head Office in the International Zone in Baghdad from where its operations in the North, West and South regions of Iraq were co-ordinated.

CAPE’s security services in Iraq were initially supplied by another provider but, due to dissatisfaction with those services, CAPE approached ArmorGroup during 2005 and selected it as its preferred security provider in Iraq.

ArmorGroup Actions

Initially ArmorGroup was contracted to provide CAPE with one employee for a Security Advisor/Facility Management role. Today ArmorGroup provides CAPE with a team of sixty contracted security professionals, including international, local and third country nationals. The ArmorGroup team provide a full turnkey security operation for CAPE in Iraq, including:

• Security and risk management;
• Security consultancy and liaison;
• Fully established Operations Centre with links to ROCC, US and LMCC;
• Security intelligence using ArmorGroup’s network of operations across Iraq;
• Hostile Environment and continuity training programme for CAPE clients at ArmorGroup’s Al Hillah training base;
• Site security teams in satellite locations;
• PSD teams;
• Static guard operations and management;
• Facilities and support services;
• Logistics and travel management support.

Results

ArmorGroup has succeeded in providing CAPE with cost effective and innovative security solutions for their present and future projects. The provision of this professional service has enabled CAPE to focus on increasing their footprint in Iraq, knowing that the security of their employees is effective.
