ArmorGroup has a long and successful
record of providing Security Sector Reform through the mentoring,
training and capacity building of local security sector personnel
who work in support of newly established governments, often in

ArmorGroup’s mentoring skills are the result of the consolidation of its extensive operational and cultural experience in a number of transitional societies. In-depth research and needs analyses are carried out by ArmorGroup’s consultants, many of whom are senior British former police officers, prior to training and curriculum development. All recommendations and programmes are produced and carried out in close partnership with the relevant local authorities.
ArmorGroup’s mentoring programmes have an operational focus but are also configured to provide transparent oversight of activities. Therefore, ArmorGroup employees work with local civilian authorities to ensure a balanced and comprehensive approach to improving the governance of the security sector, including assistance in support of:
As part of its broader commitment to mentoring, ArmorGroup also offers practical and progressive training packages – delivered by experienced and professional trainers - which support the strategic direction clients wish to pursue. ArmorGroup recognises the need to combine operational competency and professionalism with acceptable levels of good governance and civilian oversight across the full range of inter-related organisations, including:
ArmorGroup’s experience in managing the mutually reinforcing concepts of training and mentoring in parallel brings effective and sustainable results for its clients. This was proven by ArmorGroup’s specialist training for over 1,000 members of the Greek National Police force in preparation for the 2004 Olympic Games.
ArmorGroup places a high level of importance on the consolidation of lessons learned from past practice and this is supported by in-depth analysis which helps provide strategic and operational guidance for future challenges. Such analysis is regularly shared with programme sponsors.
ArmorGroup’s large and continuously updated Human Resources database ensures that deploying teams have the correct depth of regional and operational experience, to ensure that individual mentoring posts are manned throughout any assignment.
