Armed conflict has left a tragic legacy
of landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO). These weapons remain
long after the conflicts have ended and continue to
indiscriminately maim and kill. They deny the productive use of
land and hamper economic reconstruction and infrastructure
upgrades, impacting whole communities. The international endeavour
to remove the menace of landmines and explosive remnants of war
(ERW) requires co-ordinated efforts from governments, international
humanitarian and peace organisations and businesses.
